Dessert in the Desert

So to Vegas for some more Desert golf this week, and another week of big hitting and plenty of birdie chances for the second string of tour players.

Stephan Jaeger keeps banging on the door and his 2nd last week was a case of being beaten by the better man, as rising star Matt McCarty won out in Utah, breaking our hearts on the driveable 14th by hitting his 3 wood to 8 feet on Sunday.

I do love a second place though, the strike rate from 2nd to a win within a short timescale is strong, so an 8th and a 2nd in our first 2 events is a good start let the trending begin. TPC Summerlin has been a staple diet for the PGA in it's many guises for 3 decades now, and at 7255 par 71, it's neither short nor long. There is a catch this week though as the weather forecast has forced my hand somewhat with 3 of our 4 selections going out early Thursday before the wind comes Thursday afternoon and changes the entire dynamic for scoring. Friday it will blow big early, but afternoon tee times will get much less, so early late draws is influencing my thinking, as wind for golfers is Kryptonite, and wind for B league golfers in the desert, is Kryptonite x infinity. Jaeger and Kitayama therefore go into the recycling bin this week, which hurts me but I can't take the risk.

First up with our profit money we go with the early starter of the 4 in ball striker extraordinaire and friend of the blog JUSTIN SUH. A streaky putter, the former world amateur no.1 has a class angle. He missed a cut at 4 under at the Sanderson Farms and finished tied 46th last week, but he has those warm ups behind him and at a whopping 125/1 with Paddy Power 8 places I'm excited about the 2pts e/w investment.

Ball striking, class and an early tee time again for US Open champ and still in recovery from brain surgery GARY WOODLAND is so interesting this week. He finished 17 under in his first event at the Sanderson farms, blowing off cobwebs and finishing 16th. If fully fit, fully sharp and fully recovered, he should drive the backside off most of these guys and again his price is crazy to me. 90/1 with almost everyone 8 places (PP/Hills/Betfair) he is a big 4pt investment for us, watch this space with Gary, he's a winner!

Our 1 selection not in the early/late tee times is course form trender and potential winner ADAM SCHENK. This guy has barely made a cut since May, his form has been atrocious. Yes it's a worry, yes his tee time is wrong but his record here is 12th, 3rd, 27th, 18th, MC, 20th. at 150/1 with PP/Hills again he is knock me down mental in terms of odds, at another 2pts for the thief 8 places each way, for a guy who has gone close in similar fields before.

Last up our lowest price pick is NICK TAYLOR. Our lowest price at 60/1 this week, Nick loves desert golf, he had a a stellar 2024 and despite rustiness and a 7 in round 1 last week on his card, he came 25th. Again class, tee time and price, we invest 5pts e/w on him, he's too good to be that big, one of these guys going in has us laughing. 60/1 8 places PP or Hills again and also the added bonus, that with Fav Taylor Pendrith and crowd Fav Rickie Fowler you will see Nick plenty of times Thursday and Friday.

Go Well 12pts investment this week. Blow wind blow
