Pop and Crisps. An Ode to Pete Dye

So after a nice break, enforced by personal reasons and also because I wasn't investing the time watching, which became apparent was a huge handle for me, I AM BACK. It's a late blog but I have to put up 4 players for the Amex this week and I've stolen some of last years pre amble to expedite the blog and get this published.

Having played golf in America, there are usually 2 types of golf courses. Ones that are laid out beautifully, requiring shot shaping and imagination, and ones that look great but are hit to one point over or around sand and water, and then again over sand and water to another point. These type of tracks are dull, it's target golf and all the visuals can't take away from what is not a test without wind, the PGA West course is not Sawgrass Pete Dye, it's a resort course for sales reps and pensioners, and woke ones because it'sin California but I can't blame Dye for that. There have been an additional 200 trees planted since 2023 so maybe some corner cutting has been stopped but I won't hold my breath having seen the guys tear it apart again last year. So with low winds this week, we have the glorified putting competition that is the Amex. It is played over 3 course and the cut is after the 3 rounds with the final round on the Stadium Course. The Nicklaus Course and La Quinta form the other 2 courses to play and with winds lower than tinkerbells farts it's going to be another 25 under plus snooze week.

We do however have in form players with great course form and born again JUSTIN THOMAS is the bet of the week this week. He's back at the top of leaderboards, something has clicked with his putter and his driver is behaving. If he can maintain his form, he is a massive priced fav this week and a bet to nothing in my opinion and we invest 7pts ew 8 places with Hills at 14/1.

Next up another player who is making a lot of birdies, meaning his putter has been taken off the ice. TOM HOGE is trending like a maniac, he has fallen away slightly after strong starts, but he loves it here and he will contend. He is an inexplicable 60/1 with Paddy Power 8 places and we are 3ps ew and very confident.

Another blog favourite, course specialist and recent winner is next and if you don't know KEITH MITCHELL you have memory loss or don't pay attention. He's a great each way bet at 90/1 with Bet365 and we invest 2pts ew.

Last but by no means least it's a debut for a guy who seems to contend most weeks since the end of the play offs in the fall. NICO ECHAVARRIA is getting skinnier week on week but at 55/1 with Paddy Power he has a lot of juice left. 3pts ew 8 places and that is our 30pts for the week.

Apologies for the brief blog, as I'm working off a phone and against the clock I've had to publish without the specific stats, but they do exist and last weekend got my juices flowing again and I saw more than enough to feel confident.

As always only bet what you can afford, and as always, don't take weeks off, if you dont want profit go follow someone who will put Scottie up at 7/2. You won't make money but you can look clever in front of your friends.

Believe in the thief.
